Heath Ledger Wins Golden Globe

Heath Ledger was posthumously honored with a best supporting actor Golden Globe for his amazing performance as The Joker in The Dark Night. The award was accepted on his behalf by director Christopher Nolan, who said:

“On behalf of all of us who worked with Heath on Dark Knight, I accept this with mix of sadness and incredible pride,” Nolan said. “He will be eternally missed but he will never be forgotten.”

The win boosts Ledger’s prospects for the supporting-actor honor at the Academy Awards, whose nominations come out January 22, the one-year anniversary of the actor’s death from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

The big winners of the evening were Slumdog Millionaire which won best director, best film, best screenplay and best original score and Kate Winslet who won two Globes: best supporting actress for The Reader, and best dramatic actress for Revolutionary Road.
