Michael Phelps was busted when a photograph of him taking bong rips was leaked out. Apparently, the 23 year old Michael Phelps was at a party at the University Of South Carolina in Columbia slamming down beers when someone handed him a water pipe with red writing on it. Our Olympic swimmer didn’t hesitate and proceeded to inhale the intoxicating narcotic.

In a statement, Michael Phelps acknowledged his bad judgment in getting high at a party in November:

“I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”
